Bentota Cultural Dancing Show

Bentota Cultural Center, Aturuwella , Induruwa. Sri Lanka

The Bentota Cultural Dancing Show is a professionally curated cultural performance initiative founded to preserve, present, and regenerate Sri Lanka’s Low Country (Bentota) dance traditions through ethical tourism and cultural education.

Based at the Bentota Cultural Center, Aturuwella, the project offers structured dance performances combined with historical interpretation and storytelling, allowing visitors to understand the cultural meaning behind the movements, rhythms, and rituals—rather than experiencing dance as entertainment alone.

This initiative is designed as a regenerative cultural tourism model, creating sustainable livelihoods for traditional dancers, supporting intergenerational knowledge transfer, and safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. Performances are conducted with respect for authenticity, cultural dignity, and community involvement, while meeting professional tourism standards for international audiences.

The Bentota Cultural Dancing Show also functions as an educational platform, welcoming tourists, students, researchers, and cultural enthusiasts to engage deeply with Sri Lanka’s living traditions. By linking culture, tourism, and local empowerment, the project contributes to long-term cultural resilience in the Bentota region.

Project Focus:

Cultural preservation • Regenerative tourism • Heritage interpretation • Community livelihoods • Ethical cultural performances
